Love

"I saw two kids in love."
I like this quote because it makes me create a whole story in my mind. I imagine them spending the rest of their lives together. I see two kids being in love and finishing high school and college together, then getting a house with each other. Then having kids and they grow up and they have kids then the couple grow old together.

This quote is very similar to the movie The Notebook because two kids were in love. And in the book Liz And Owen were kids in love. And something stopped them from being together, just like my novel when Emily comes back. Eventually in both stories, they found a way back to each other, and stayed together until death.

time to make change

Prompt: What "Pep Talk" has does your novel give to readers?

¨pep talk¨ in elsewhere shows that its a time for change and it will either be good or bad its your choice. In the beginning Liz did not accept the fact she was dead, she would always look for the negatives never the positives. One day Liz realized that she had to move on, that she couldn't just sit there waiting for things to get better. In order to make a change  you have to be willing to face the problems that come your way. People run away from things  if it starts to gets hard, they're not willing to try to make it better.

Individual post

" To laughter, and forgetting! the table choruses"
I like how they they made their toast to these things. I think these things are really good things to toast to as well. It's hard to forget, so the fact that they are trying and succeeded is really cool. I think this connects with the real world because, forgetting is real hard now a days and it definitely worth celebrating. Laughter is a different story, people laugh all the time. Everything is funny somehow. That's a good thing to celebrate too.  It's one of the only good things that come to us a lot. With out it I think our lives would be miserable. So i think them celebrating it is a really smart idea. We need to learn to forget more. And laugh to keep us happy.

Pep Talk

The “Pep Talk” in elsewhere tells it’s time for a change and to adapt to it. At first when Liz got to elsewhere she looked on the negative side of everything. But you shouldn’t do that. Look on the bright side of a change you don’t like and it will get better as you go on. Liz wants to run away from elsewhere and the changing. Right when she turned 14, Liz wanted to be a sneaker clause and go back to earth. She was running away from the problem instead of accepting it. All new changes are hard for people no matter if it’s a big or small change. If you run away it will never get better, but if you try to make a bad change into something good, it will be good. The cover of the book is a globe with a boat inside it. I think since the boat is going forward, it’s telling you to keep on going even if something is bad. The globe is circular and is telling you to keep on going also. Liz actually goes through the circle of life. She was born, died, and was reborn after 15 years.

Change

" Oh. Betty don't you know there's  no such thing as forever?"

I think that this quote's main idea or theme would be change. It shows change because you don't live forever. If you want to accomplish things you have to change and do what you have to do because if you don't you'll never accomplish anything.  You don't have forever to be lazy and do whatever you want.  You have to try to succeed in life or life wouldn't be worth living. People need to realize that they can't lay back and ignore the real world when there are so many opportunities out there. This goes with Elsewhere because she died at age 15. So she only has that many years in elsewhere. If she wants to do things she has to accept the amount of change and adapt to it, so she can succeed. You don't have forever, so you might have to change to accomplish what you want to.

Life

"She sleeps; she sleeps.
And when she sleeps, she dreams.
And when she dreams, she dreams of a girl who was lost at sea but one day found the shore."

I believe the meaning of this quote is, a girl has a lot of problems she's going through. And when she dreams, she dreams about those problems going away. And dreams about her getting through those problems. The girl who dreams this wants that to happen in reality. This quote reminds me of the song Paradise by Coldplay. The lyrics in the song are similar to the meaning because the girl is going through the same thing as the girl in the song.

When she was just a girlShe expected the worldBut it flew away from her reach soShe ran away in her sleepand dreamed ofPara-para-paradise, Para-para-paradise, Para-para-paradiseEvery time she closed her eyes
When she was just a girlShe expected the worldBut it flew away from her reachand the bullets catch in her teethLife goes on, it gets so heavyThe wheel breaks the butterflyEvery tear a waterfallIn the night the stormy night she'll close her eyesIn the night the stormy night away she'd fly
and dreams ofPara-para-paradisePara-para-paradisePara-para-paradise

Reason for Avocation jobs

7. Liz and all the other arrivals in Elsewhere are encouraged to find an avocation to pursue during their time there. Ghent explains to Liz that an avocation is something that makes one's soul complete (page 74). Some of the residents of Elsewhere work in avocations similar to the jobs they did on Earth; others have new ones. Marilyn Monroe becomes a psychiatrist. Curtis Jest decides to be a fisherman and comments that John Lennon is a gardener. How do the avocations of Monroe, Lennon, Owen, Betty, Curtis, and other characters reflect what they really want out of their new lives? What would you chose as an avocation?

I believe that they chose that certain kind of avocation because it showed their true personality. They could not pursue there dream on earth because it would ruin their image. Or they wanted to try something new, if not they wanted to try something that  they never would have done on earth. I think I would have chosen something with animals too because it would be fun working with them and i would have never of thought of doing it on earth. I think that Liz chose that avocation because she did not  get a chance to pursue it on earth. The kids that come to elsewhere will probably choose what they first wanted  to be on earth because they did not have a chance to change their minds. Whatever avocation people choose it will be because they wanted to do it on earth but chose a different route instead.
